Current World Champion Gillespie wins the European title!
The worlds best 8 ball player Scott Gillespie added the European singles title to his peerless career. The Larkhall man saw off Jake Dylan Newlove in the quarter final before facing former World Champion Craig Marsh in the semis, Marsh had to chance to take the match to a decider but the pressure of the moment proved too great as he missed a routine black to see Gillespie into the final with a 6-4 victory.
It looked certain that “Goobs” would face fellow country man Liam Dunster in the final but fatigue from a long week for him caught up and an impressive performance by Jordan Evetts completed an Auld enemy final. Gillespie started with what seems his normal standard break and dish to open the final and when he went into a 2-0 lead the majority of spectators thought it would be a formality but Evetts dug deep and produced some quality finishes as well as taking advantage of Gillespies dry breaks and took the match all the way to the decider.
Anyone that has watched pool over the years knows when the heat comes on Scott Gillespie produces and he finished off the final in the same way he started with a break and dish to take European glory and cement his place as the greatest 8 ball pool player on earth. It’s the second event in a row Scott has been wearing the Snookerfans.co.uk logo the first was the Irish IPA Championship which he won also, from all the team and followers congratulations champ.
