Ronnie O’Sullivan powered to player’s championship glory with a convincing 10-4 victory over Neil Robertson in a much talked about “All Aussie Final”.
Putting Ronnie’s laughable Aussie accent aside he raced into a 4-0 lead at the first mid session interval aided by breaks of 65,52,66,70 and 65.
After the Interval Robertson stroked in a marvellous break of 65 from 50 behind to cut the deficit to 4-1 but the Rocket once again asserted his dominance by stroking in breaks of 56,105 and 116 to take a commanding 7-2 lead into the evening session and also take his career century total to 999.
Robertson started the evening session in style stroking in a sublime break of 120 but once again the Rocket hit straight back with a break of 90 to cement an 8-3 lead. The next two frames were shared which put Ronnie one frame away from glory at 9-4.
And what a way he wrapped up victory with an absolutely sublime break of 134 and in the process making his 1000th century of his professional career.
What more can we say about Ronnie that hasn’t been said, For all his controversial comments and actions he is simply the greatest player of all time and a genius of the green baize.
