Ronnie O’Sullivan battled back from 7-5 down to beat Neil Robertson 10-8 to claim the Cazoo World Grand Prix.
O’Sullivan had to really dig deep in today’s final as it felt like he was always chasing Robertson. The first session was shared 4-4 but Robertson would have felt aggrieved as he should of been leading by a minimum of a 5-3 scoreline only for Ronnie to pinch frame 8 on the black to lead us into the evening session with parity.
The evening session started with Robertson winning 3 of the first four frames to take a 7-5 lead but Ronnie went into overdrive reeling off 4 frames in a row with breaks 90,62,77 and 77 to lead 9-7.
Robertson hit back with a break of 78 in frame 17 to cut the deficit to 9-8 but after a miscue while in on 7 in frame 18 Ronnie stroked in another marvellous break of 77 to claim world grand prix glory.
This victory will be one of the sweetest of Ronnie’s career as many had started to doubt him after losing his last five finals but today’s battling qualities were there for everyone to see and he will go into next months master’s full of confidence.
