The Captain leads by example

Two time Crucible finalist Ali Carter booked his place in the last 16 with a solid 10-6 victory over Jack Lisowski. Carter who had to come through 3 qualifying rounds to get to the Crucible and his match sharpness was evident in the first session and he powered into a 5-4 lead overnight. Jack looked out of sorts in the second session and although he put together a small comeback it was carter who held his nerve to claim victory.

Kyren Wilson lived up to his Warrior nickname with a commanding 10-4 victory over Crucible debutant Scott Donaldson.Kyren made the one table setup last year and he told howeveryoulikebreak.com reporter Curtis Braithwaite ” I’m razor sharp at the moment and i really fancy my chances of a good run here”.

Neil Robertson holds a 5-3 advantage over Shaun Murphy going into tomorrow’s final two sessions. The highlight of the session was Shaun Murphy’s maximum break attempt which broke down on 112.

Gary Wilson has given former world champion Mark Selby plenty to think about after the first session of thier last 16 encounter. Wilson raced into a 3-1 interval lead with breaks of 55, 68 and 100 but it was Selby who won 2 out of the next 3 frames cut the deficit to 4-3 however a good colour clearance by Wilson gives him the advantage going into tomorrow’s second session
