ROBERTSON TOO STRONG IN WOLVERHAMPTON

Neil Robertson faced Barry Hawkins in a major final for the second time in the space of a month and once again proved too strong for the always tough to beat Barry Hawkins.

Robertson dominated the opening session firing in 3 centuries to power into a 5-1 lead only for Hawkins to hit back to win the final 2 frames of the session aided by a superb break of 137 to close the session only 2 frames behind at 5-3.

Barry needed a fast start to the evening session but it was Neil who started the 2nd session better firing in breaks of 54,58 and 64 to lead 7-3.

Hawkins won a frame 11 with a break of 92 and followed it up with a break of 63 to close the deficit to 7-5 at the final interval of the match.

Robertson stroked in a magnificent break of 116 to win frame 13 then breaks of 46 and 51 won frame 14 to move Robertson 1 frame from victory.

With the winning line in sight Robertson wasn’t going to stagger over it and another excellent break of 68 to wrap up victory and be crowned the new Cazoo players championship champion.
