Matthew Selt (pictured above) produced a stunning display of match play to cruise past the irrepressible Judd Trump and book a last 16 spot against Barry Hawkins. Selt kept his cool and wrapped up victory with a sensational break of 128 and will be very confident of extending his run in this iconic event.
Former crucible semi finalist Andy Hicks continues his outstanding run in this year’s tournament with another deciding frame victory over Dominic Dale to book a place in the last 16.
Talented Tamworth cueist David Gilbert battled back from 2-0 and 5-2 down to grab victory in a deciding frame shootout against Mark Allen. With 7 of the top 10 seeds already falling by the way side Gilbert is eyeing the big prize and will take some stopping.
Ronnie O’Sullivan continues to cruise through his part of the draw as he booked his spot in the last 16 with a 6-3 victory over Mark King. O’Sullivan fired in breaks of 52,53,63,70,84 and 108 and will now face Thailand’s Noppon Saengkham for a place in the quarter finals.
The likeable Ben Woollaston followed up his excellent victory over Yan Bingtao with a hard fought 6-4 victory over the talented Liam Highfield. Since having his first dose of the vaccine Ben has Suffered immensely with complications and it’s great to see him finally getting a good run of results.
