Gilbert takes the lead

The one table setup at the Crucible is like no other and David Gilbert has taken to it like a duck to water. In his first Crucible semi final he leads 4 time World champion John Higgins by 5 frames to 3. Higgins started the better of the two player’s by racing into a 2-0 lead but Gilbert fought back with breaks of 51, 94 and 113 to grab the initiative in the biggest match of his career to date. It will be interesting to see how Gilbert deals with the pressure of potentially making the final but as of yet he looks cool, calm, collected and its great to see.

Gary Wilson and Judd Trump are locked at 4-4 after an entertaining first session. Trump started the semi final a strong favourite in the eyes of many but Wilson is showing exactly why he has climbed into the world’s top 20 with a fearless display of potting and break building and in this confident form Trump will have to draw on all his big game experience to hold off a rampant Wilson.
