What another day of spectacular performances from players at The British Open which is taking place in front of a large crowd in the Morningside Arena in Leicester. The tournament runs until 22^nd August .

Again a number of original players who won the tournament previously are also competing in this years event including Jimmy White, Stephen Hendry, Mark Williams, and John Higgins which has seen all 4 players who are all through to the second round.

All matches up to the last 16 are best of five frames, the quarter and semi-finals are best of seven frames, and the final is best of 11 frames.

With a winners cheque of £100,000 there is always going to be stiff competition to reach the finals .

Tonight we saw Chris Wakelin compete against Stephen Hendry – Scotland’s seven-time World Champion Stephen Hendry made his much anticipated first appearance of the season which saw a winning result with his 3-2 win over Wakelin .

We also witnessed a thrilling match between Mark Selby and Shaun Murphy which last saw them both face each other at this year’s Crucible final. Today’s match ended again with Selby winning 3-2 over Murphy .
