Today we see the start of The 2021 Champion of Champions which is taking place at between 15 and 21 November 2021 at the Bolton Whites Hotel in Bolton, England.
It is the 11th Champion of Champions event, the first of which was held back in 1978. The tournament features 16 players, primarily winners of important tournaments since the 2020 Champion of Champions. As an invitational event, the Champion of Champions tournament carries no world ranking points.
Sadly the defending champion, Mark Allen was due to take part in the event. However, during the recent English Open, he announced that he was going to have to withdraw from the event for personal reasons and thus will not be defending the title he won back in 2020. This then meant that Ding Junhui, would then be joining the tournament to replace Allen.
