DAY 5 – START OF THE QUARTER FINALS BETFRED MASTERS 2021

Quarter final 1: David Gilbert vs Kyren Wilson

David Gilbert booked his place in the semi-finals of the Masters for the second consecutive year after a drama filled final frame deciding victory over Kyren Wilson.

Breaks of 67 and 66 in the last two frames ultimately saw Gilbert come from behind to claim a 6-5 victory in Milton Keynes.

Despite Gilbert appearing to miscue on a simple black with the match at his mercy, Wilson could not capitalise and a missed pink to the middle sealed Gilbert’s win.

Quarter final 2: Stuart Bingham vs Shaun Murphy

Stuart Bingham faced Shaun Murphy in a repeat of the 2015 World Championship final and it was a tense affair from start to finish.

The first 4 frames were shared before the interval with both player’s having several chances to take charge of the match but a string of errors from both had both players locked at 2-2.

After the interval Bingham won 4 of the next 5 frames with solid match play to wrap up victory. This was an important victory for Stuart as he has not had a solid season but this will fill him with confidence and he will now face the winner of tomorrow afternoon’s quarter final between Stephen Maguire and Yan Bingtao.
