Judd Trump cruised into the quarter finals with a 4-1 victory over tournament top up Ross Muir. Judd is still not at his fluent best but is at the stage of his career that he knows how to win in second gear and now faces Mark King for a place in the semi final.

Tournament rookie Paul Deauville run came to an end with a defeat against the former Northern Ireland open champion Mark King. 17 year old Deauville has won many admirers this week with his run to the last 16 and is a promising star of the future.

Ronnie O’Sullivan powered into the quarter finals with a 4-0 demolition of Jamie Clarke. Ronnie nearly made a maximum break in the final frame of the match but broke down on 120.
O’Sullivan looks relaxed and in full control of his emotions so he will take some serious stopping to keep the English open trophy out of his hands.

Slimline John Higgins continues to glide through the draw and is now only 3 victories away from lifting his first English open title. Higgins secured his place in the last 8 with a 4-1 victory over Ding Junhui.

World number 5 Kyren Wilson made light work of Robbie Williams with a 4-1 victory and he will now face Neil Robertson who edged out the likeable Mark Davis in a decider.
