Yan Bingtao battled back from 5-3 and 7-5 down to claim Betfred Master’s glory on his debut appearance in this showpiece event with a 10-8 victory over John Higgins.

Higgins won the first session 5-3 and Yan knew he had to step it up massively in the evening session and done exactly that. Yan powered in breaks of 55,59,64,70,76,97 and 103 to become only the second player since Mark Selby to win the masters on debut.

Throughout this tournament Yan showed every character needed to be at the top of the game for a long time to come and more impressively he is on 20 years old. 

As for John Higgins he will be bitterly disappointed to lose in yet again another triple crown final but on a positive note he showed that he was back to nearly his best at times throughout the tournament.
