BETFRED WORLD CHAMPIONSHIPS STARTS WITH QUALIFIERS ON APRIL 5TH

The 2021 Tournament of The World Championship is the second of Snooker’s Triple Crowns in 2021, which comes just over eight months after the 2020 tournament that took place as it was postponed due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

In 2020 we saw Ronnie O’Sullivan lift the world title for the sixth time which meant he drew level with Steve Davis and Ray Reardon . If he lifts the Trophy again in 2021 this means he will equal Stephen Hendry’s record of seven.

Starting on Monday 5th April we see 128 players competing during the qualification rounds  , which will take place between April 5th and April 14th at the English Institute of Sport in Sheffield.

On the 5th April we welcome back Stephen Hendry to the tournament who will be competing at 7.30 pm against Jimmy White . We also see Reanne Evans and Rebecca Kenna also competing in the qualifiers.

The reigning Champion Ronnie O’Sullivan is the only player with a guaranteed place in the first round.

Once the qualifiers are finished we then see the main tournament move to the Crucible which commences on April 17th with the Finals on May 3rd .

A total 16 of these players will reach the first round where they will be joined by the 16 top players in the snooker rankings.

Ronnie O’Sullivan also known as the Rocket knows he will have stiff competition for the Trophy as every player will be looking to bring everything they have to the table as the Winner receives a cheque for £500,000 and the Runner-up will get £200,000, This is going to be prove to be one very exciting Tournament .
