Day Seven – with the pressure mounting in Round 2 we see the next 8 players looking to compete today to enable them to have an opportunity to secure their place in the Quarter Finals . Players are now also having to compete in the best of 25 frames which is an increase on Round 1 which was the best of 19 .
We also see Mark Selby at the top of the centuries leader board with his 142 score .
Here is the update on players competing in Round 2 matches today which has seen a big shock in tonight’s performances.
During this morning matches we saw some phenomenal play with Anthony McGill leading Ronnie O’Sullivan 10-6 . Then with the start of play this evening the game developed quickly with O’Sullivan and McGill playing with equal amazing skill with only 1 frame between them towards the end of this evening match. In the closing frame of the match McGill secures the last frame needed to win 13- 12 over O’Sullivan which guaranteed his place in the Quarter finals. This means that the reigning Champion journey for Worlds is over. So watch this space as the field is now wide open for a New World Champion.
Also this morning we saw Barry Hawkins equal 4 -4 with Kyren Wilson . By the end of this evenings matches Wilson was taking the lead with his 9-7 frames over Hawkins . Both Hawkins and Wilson are due to continue their match at 2.30 tomorrow.
In this afternoons matches Neil Robertson was in a strong place going from 5-3 against Jack Lisowski at the start of todays match to Robertson being 9-7 over Lisowski . Both players meet again tomorrow at 10am.
