The first session belonged to Judd Trump as he pounced on every mistake that Ronnie made and at the interval held a commanding 6-2 lead.

It was imperative that the “Rocket” started the evening session well and he did just that by winning 3 of the first 4 frames to cut the deficit to 7-5 but a lengthy 13th frame that Trump won on the pink gave him a firm hold of the semifinal at 8-5.

The Rocket then went into cruise mode stroking in back to back centuries followed by a nerveless colour clearance to level the match at 8-8.

The next two frames were shared and with the help of an outrageous fluke on the pink the Rocket held is nerve to clear the final colours for a memorable 10-9 victory.
